The refrigerator is one of the most important appliances in a home. This is why you need to know how to repair it should it become faulty. Below are the steps in repairing a refrigerator.
Steps to Repair a Refrigerator
Know the exact problem. Since the said appliance consists of several components, different types of problems can occur in it.
- One common problem is a damaged condenser fan. If you notice your refrigerator is not cooling properly, its condenser fan may be malfunctioning. Examine the condenser fan normally found at the bottom of the refrigerator. Remove any particles preventing the blades from moving freely. If the fan is not working at all, disconnect the wiring, unscrew the fan, and replace it with a new one.
- The refrigerator light is another component that usually encounters problems. Once you open the refrigerator door, the light should subsequently turn on. However, if it does not light up, this component needs to be fixed. Check the light bulb if it has blown up and replace it as needed. If the light bulb is in good condition, look at the switch. This small light switch is hit by the door as you open or closes it. Clean the switch if food particles have pressed it to the off position. Replace the light switch when you have cleaned it but it still does not work.
- Problems with the coolant, compressor, and motor are other common issues requiring immediate attention. Ideally, you should seek professional help when your refrigerator has a coolant leak or when its compressor or motor is defective.
